Architecture and urban planning are different basically because the first one refers to the designing of a building in specific; instead, urban planning has to design the context in wich this building will be constructed.

     In terms of the qualifications, to be a great architect not only you have to have interest in the designing of buildings, but also in other ancillary subjects such as information regarding surveying, sanitation hygiene, heating, lighting, ventilation and acoustics; and subjects of law, financing of buildings, accounting, taxes, merchandizing, maintainance and office management. You also have to have the ability to draw and a understanding for mathematics.

     An urban planner needs to be able to know about the study of the terrain, climatic aspects that affect the land, the location of the buildings and how the city is planned. Urban planning also includes the study of the economic and social enviroments of communities.

     After knowing the difference between architecture and urban planning, I'm sure that architecture es the carreer for me. I am a very creative person, and I'm not sure yet that this is what I want to do for the rest of my life, but certainly I preffer doing models of buildings that are alredy built and designing new ones, than being in a office writing and reading things.

     I think that the role of an architect is to design buildings that make people feel comfortable and safe, design spaces that people can enjoy, be it a house or an office where they spend all day working.
